Democrat Steny Hoyer Admits The Obvious: Health Care Budget Savings Are A Farce

Article, links and 2 short clips are inside.

-----

You might have missed this little gem from last week.  Hoyer told Hill reporters:

Hoyer said that the health bill should help the fiscal picture; the Congressional Budget Office expects savings of about $140 billion this decade and far more in the bill's second decade.

Hoyer acknowledged Republican concerns that those savings may not be realized, as they're based on measures lawmakers may be reluctant to enact. The health bill's savings come through Medicare cuts, which Democrats said won't affect seniors' quality of care, and through new taxes on high-income earners.

He called on lawmakers to have the "courage" to stick by them.

"Those savings are contingent on Congress keeping its pledge to take hard votes," Hoyer said.

"Congress does not have a good track record on that objective," he added.

-----

Congressman Paul Ryan made this point to Obama directly during the televised health care summit shown below.

-----

And it seems voters already understand that budget-saving rhetoric was but a mirage.  Witness this exchange between Rep. Carol Shea Porter and her constituents.  The audible groans begin when she attempts to make the claim of budget savings.

It is all smoke and mirrors, such is life in the greatest lie ever told... Believe in yourself, plan accordingly, and don't blame others for what all are collectively responsible for.

Study your founders, and their teachers, and drop the Chinese/ Hitler/ and other ruses, and it will become very clear.

Ron Paul (Nancy Kaptur, Alan Grayson and a VERY few others) are the veritable OASIS in the midst of the barren moral WASTELAND that is American politics.

Shine as they may, I rarely count much on them; what with their being 7 (or 8?) vs. 7,879. Give or take.

Poor hapless Carol Shea-Porter is the rep from my district. Mark that seat down as a Republican pickup.
